Marlington

A house renovator and keen hiker living in the Southern French mountains with his dogs, founder David Parr was a fan of minimal shoes, sunblock and linen shorts. Then, a few years ago, he moved to Scotland and found his requirements changed. Every boot he tried was too narrow in the toe and too loose through the midfoot. Most also had padding that packed out too fast and over-thick soles that could not be replaced, walking 10 miles a day with his dogs and working in building sites soon wore them out. 

He spoke to a 120 year old custom Bootmakers and they came up with a design and construction that worked for him. A "Barefoot" style last that holds the midfoot and heel with an extra broad toe box to allow the toes to splay. Chromexel leather uppers that will age gracefully, tough but thin bull hide soles and Vibram outsoles completed the New Original workboot. A number of people  asked him about getting similar boots made so he created Marlington, the nickname of his rescue Husky Marley.

From the prototypes, the design has been tweaked and a number of leathers and styles have been selected to expand the range with the same ethos, strong and durable but low and comfortable. At home in the high mountains, the daily dog walk or in the pub.

All Marlington footwear is unpadded and will mould to your feet with time.
